Jae-Sik Jeon

Jae Sik Jeon is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Real Estate Studies, Konkuk University, South Korea. He is a skilled researcher committed to expanding access to opportunity, with expertise in housing policy, quantitative methods, and spatial analysis. His research interests include housing policy, real estate markets, affordable housing, residential mobility, and the geography of opportunity. Jae has co-authored numerous journal articles and research reports on these topics. Collaborating with academics, government officials, and industry professionals, he is currently exploring the links between housing market dynamics, metropolitan affordability, spatial inequality, and urban location choice patterns. Before coming to Konkuk University, he conducted research on gentrification and displacement for the Urban Displacement Project at UC Berkeley. Prior to that, Jae wrote articles about affordable housing and community development strategies for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Policy Development and Research (HUD PD&R). He also worked in the nonprofit and governments sectors related to community development and housing policy for two years both in South Korea and USA. He holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Maryland, and a bachelor and master’s degrees in Urban Planning and Engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea. Regarding teaching, Jae has years of experience from the University of Maryland, San Francisco State University, and Konkuk University in international real estate markets, Geographic Information Systems, housing policy and planning, and research methods. He is an active board member of variety of academic research bodies, such as KAHPS (Korean Association for Housing Policy Studies), KREAA (Korea Real Estate Analysis Association), and KRSA (Korean Regional Science Association).
